Federation of Community Forestry Users, Nepal (FECOFUN) is an umbrella organization of Community Forest Users Groups (CFUGs) which has been working across the country for 25 years. FECOFUN’s major objective is to strengthen CFUGs capacity by ensuring sustainable management of forest and livelihood improvement of poor and vulnerable groups of community. FECOFUN has been leading the advocacy to safeguard the rights and justice at both the local and national levels.

“Securing Community Forest Rights in Nepal through local government and coordinated local actions to FECOFUN” is a TF (the international Land and Forest Tenure Facility) funded initiative implemented by a consortium of FECOFUN (lead organization), Green Foundation Nepal (GFN) and Centre for Indigenous People Research and Development (CEPRED).

FECOFUN hereby invites applications for the below-mentioned positions from Nepalese candidates.

Position: National Project Coordinator

Qualifications and Key Skills: Master’s degree or PhD in development studies, project management, forestry, social sciences, or related fields with more than five years of practical experience in coordination and management of donor-funded development projects/s in Nepal. Strong leadership and team mobilization skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall coordination and management of the project.
  • Work closely with the Focal pointfrom the Tenure Facility.
  • Establish coordination with the members of the project steering committee, stakeholders and project partners.
  • Lead the project team for effective planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Make sure all activities are implemented as per agreed work plan
  • Report the progress of the project implementation to the project partners, steering committee, and the Tenure Facility.

Position: Finance Officer

Qualifications and key Skills:: Master’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field. More than five years of practical work experience in account keeping and finance management of any development project supported by international donors in Nepal. Good communication, planning, and problem-solving skills. Multi-tasking abilities, integrity, and honesty.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain day to day financial operation of the project such as pay roll, invoicing, and other transactions.
  • Contract outside services (as and when necessary) to support project implementation.
  • Ensure regular auditing, banking, and other financial needs of the project.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Support maintaining financial system of the project partners.
  • Accomplish finance duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Position: Monitoring, Documentation and Data Officer

Qualifications and Key Skills : Master degree in statistics, mathematics, project design, and implementation or other related fields. Strong data analysis skills with the use of computer-based software such as EXCEL and others. Capacity to produce high-quality briefs and reports backed with credible data and evidence. Strong communication and report writing skills (both in English and Nepali)

Key responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility to monitor, document and maintain project database.
  • Generate and maintain online data portal.
  • Documentation of key achievement, progress, lessons learned and success stories from the project sites
  • Lead on designing, developing and implementing computer based monitoring systems including development of data portal, plan frameworks, processes and data collection tolls for the project.
  • Draw lessons learned and share with project partners.
  • Work closed with Tenure Facility’s Focal point and MEL Coordinator in developing tools for monitoring, evaluation and learning.
  • Prepare data reports such as tables, charts, narratives and visuals on a regular basis to respond to the requested for information, inputs to project work plans.

Position: Enterprise and Livelihood Officer

Qualifications and Key Skills : Master degree in business management, enterprise development, or other related field. More than five years of work experience in promoting agroforestry based enterprises and livelihood support in rural areas in Nepal.

Key responsibilities:

  • Facilitate to establish agro forest based enterprises in the project sites.
  • Help identifying potential enterprises across the selected project sites.
  • Train local communities to develop technical skills and capacity in business establishment.
  • Help establishing coordination with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector.
  • Help to establish market linkages and provide information about marketing

Position: Administrative and IT Officer

Qualifications and Key Skills: Bachelor or Master degree in IT management, administration, or other related fields with at least 5 years of work experience in IT being associated with development projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage all the administrative and IT functions in the project.
  • Responsible for coordinating, planning and leading all computer related activities pertaining to the project.
  • Support information system requirement of the project.
  • Ensure security of data and information related to the project.
  • Plan, organize, control and evaluate information technology and electronic data operation
  • Establish online data portal to upload relevant data for the project.

Position: IPLC Facilitation Officer

Qualifications and Key Skills: Master degree in development studies, community development, sociology or related field with more than five years of practical experiences working to support indigenous people and local communities in Nepal.

Key responsibilities:

  • Facilitate to secure the rights of indigenous people and local communities over forests and land resources.
  • Empower IPLC through capacity building, awareness raising and sharing legal and regulatory framework on rights of IPS and communities.
  • Train IPLC about global and national policies on IPLC’s rights over forests and land resources.
  • Facilitate to establish collaboration between IPLC and local government.

Position: GESI Officer

Qualifications and Key Skills: Master degree in gender and development, social inclusion sociology or related fields with more than five years of practical experience working as a GESI focal point in any development institution or project.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare proper plan and activities to incorporate GESI in the project activities.
  • Assess and prepare reports position paper with respect to state of GESI theme across the project sites.
  • Work as a GESI focal points to facilitate the process for establishing and gathering GESI best practices to learn and strengthen activities and ensure that GESI is incorporated into program and plan of the Project.
  • Help integrating GESI aspect across all component of the project.
  • Provide training to the project team. Project stakeholders, local communities, and local government tean on GESI concept and its application.

Position: Legal Support Officer

Qualifications and Key Skills: Master degree in law, legal and regulatory framework and policies, or related field with more than five years of work experience to extend legal support to Ips and local communities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide legal knowledge and understanding to the team of community forest user group, Ips and local government while formulating local laws on community forestry rights.
  • Train key stakeholders on current legal and regulatory framework that are related to rights of local government to formulate laws locally.
  • Support to resolve conflicts of emerged while formulating laws on community.

Position: Training and Capacity Building Officer

Qualifications and Key Skills: Master degree in human resource development, community capacity building, or related field with more than five years of experience in conducting training at multiple levels, but mainly for IPs and communities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assess capacity need of the project partners, local government, CFUGs and other stakeholders of the project.
  • Design and facilitate trainings program and workshops for project staff. CFUG members, local government team and policy makers including political leaders and parliament members.
  • Design training on forest based enterprises development and work closely with Enterprise and Livelihood Manager to deliver such trainings to the selected local communities.
